Just an hour and a half from Portland, the oceanfront Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach offers spectacular views of majestic Haystack Rock, the Pacific Ocean and the Oregon Coast. Excellent accommodations and dining and exceptional service make this a favorite getaway for Northwest travelers.
Built in 1993, the Inn takes great advantage of the beach and coastline with views from most guestrooms and the living room where guests gather for afternoon cocktails. The public rooms are warm and inviting with beamed ceilings and wood columns. The lobby has a sitting area around a fireplace and the living room has couches, comfortable seating and a stone fireplace.
The 41 rooms are large and traditionally furnished. All have fireplaces, two person Jacuzzis, a seating area and marble baths with Aveda toiletries. Oceanfront rooms have wonderful, large decks with patio furniture.
The complimentary breakfast is a fantastic buffet of fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, juices, muffins, scones, tarts and usually three choices of entrees.
Dinner, by reservation, offers a choice of a la carte or a four course prixe fixe at $59 or $89 paired with wine. Quite a bargain at either price for this quality food. My meal of a Dungenness crab risotto, garlic rubbed Black Angus filet, au gratin potatoes and grilled mushrooms with a red bordelaise sauce and a fresh fruit sorbet was wonderful. Paired with an excellent Oregon Pinot it was most satisfying.
The owners here have raised the bar on guest amenities that truly enhance your stay. Each afternoon at 4pm, complimentary Oregon wines and hors d’ouevres are served in the living room. From 9:00-9:30pm you can return for complimentary after dinner drinks. There is fresh coffee and homemade cookies available in the lobby 24 hours a day. Rooms are equipped with binoculars and lanterns for beach enjoyment. They’ll even wash your car for free!
From $199 depending on season
