Quick Escapes

Some of the best times my wife and I have had have been last minute adventures at the end of a hectic week. Into a bottle of wine on a Friday night, we decide to take off on Saturday morning and return on Sunday afternoon. Our needs are simple….a great room and a wonderful restaurant.

For just these types of Quick Escapes, we’ve compiled a list of our favorites. These great spots are in areas that don’t meet our criteria for a full weekend destination (not enough accommodation/restaurant/activity choices) but are ideal for a 36 hour sojourn.

Here’s how we selected them:

  • Driving distance from a major city that will get you there by lunchtime or earlier.
  • Great accommodations.
  • An outstanding restaurant on the premises or very close by.
  • At least one interesting activity for Saturday afternoon or Sunday.

Note: Rooms rates represent the low and high ends of the spectrum.
