Mirror Lake Inn

OVERVIEW of Mirror Lake Inn

Some places are just so comfortable and welcoming, you know from the start that you will keep coming back. Mirror Lake is one of those places. It is a delightful place to stay in any season, but it becomes truly magical when all lit up with tiny lights and surrounded by snow. It evokes memories of the wonderful old inns in movies from the 40’s like Holiday Inn and White Christmas. Perched on a hill overlooking the Lake and the mountains, the white clapboard Inn with dark green shutters has everything you might want for an enjoyable weekend; great rooms with stunning views, excellent food, a world class spa and the most convivial bar in town.

The lobby provides a wonderful introduction with beautiful mahogany walls, hardwood floors, Oriental rugs, gleaming chandeliers, illuminated artwork, antiques and stone fireplaces. Comfortable sofas, plump easy chairs and cozy little nooks make this the perfect place for morning coffee or a cocktail by the fire.

THE ROOMS at Mirror Lake Inn

Rooms are good sized and most feature a balcony with views of the lake and mountains. Décor is split between traditional Colonial furniture and a lighter Mission style. We’ve stayed in the main building in a delightful Deluxe Noonmark room on the third floor, decorated with hunter green, burgundy and tan striped wallpaper with pine cone accents, Mission style furniture, Adirondack accessories and a comfortable fishing print chair and ottoman overlooking the Lake. The bathroom had a stone shower with dual showerheads and fat, fluffy towels. Lots of quality features here; beautiful crown moldings, flat screen TV, down comforters and pillows and wonderful local Adirondack artwork.

Our favorite accommodations, however, are in the Lake Cottage, directly across from the main building and sitting at water’s edge. If you want a real treat, book the Adirondack suite, a delightful room with a huge stone fireplace, comfy couches and an plump Adirondack twig bed with views onto the lake.

DINING at Mirror Lake Inn

The Inn’s restaurants, The View, for fine dining and The Cottage Cafe, located right at water’s edge, is a favorite local watering hole and apres ski spot with excellent pub food and a deck open year round. In winter there’s a fire burning inside and out on the deck in a pot bellied stove. A great spot for lunch or an afternoon snack.

THE SERVICE at Mirror Lake Inn

The staff is well trained and very friendly. Housekeeping personnel greet guests as they pass in the hall and front desk people are anxious and willing to help. Afternoons there’s milk and homemade chocolate chip cookies in the lobby…worth the trip alone!

OTHER THINGS at Mirror Lake Inn
