THE ROOMS at The Lodge at Torrey Pines

Designed with the look and feel of a residence, The Lodge at Torrey Pines authentically reflects the California Craftsman style of architecture, featuring a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich Jatoba woodwork and natural stone surfaces. With its post-and-beam construction, expansive spaces, respect for the natural landscape and integration of indoor/outdoor living, The Lodge at Torrey Pines pays homage to the California Craftsman style of architecture of the early 1900s.

There are 169 rooms including 8 suites with views to the golf course or the Lodge’s garden courtyard. Oversized at 520 square feet and up, the rooms are decorated with custom designed furniture, fabrics and carpets with a William Morris like design that give the rooms a historic yet contemporary feel. Plump beds have Egyptian cotton linens and quilted duvets. Bathrooms are oversized with a soaking tub and most rooms come with a balcony or patio.

DINING at The Lodge at Torrey Pines

Overlooking the 18th green, A.R. Valentien is the resort’s signature restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant takes its name from the celebrated 1900’s California artist whose works are now collector’s items and also also on display in the restaurant.

The post and beam decor, with stained glass lanterns, cozy booths and warm colors create an intimate environment and Chef Jackson’s market driven and seasonally inspired menu will satisfy any tastes. Jackson was previously Executive Chef at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica and was winner of the esteemed USA Bocuse d’Or Culinary Gold Cup.

The spring menu reflects his straightforward yet innovative culinary philosophy in dishes such as parsley root soup, potted short ribs with tarragon vinaigrette, roasted beet and pickle, hot smoked salmon with mashed potatoes, buttermilk and chives followed by butterscotch pudding, pecan cookies and bitter hot cocoa.

Excellent wine list, partial to California, with a nice selection of wines by the glass and 1/2 bottles. Some favorites on the list include; Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery Sauvignon Blanc, Chateau Montelena, Chardonnay, Domaine Serene, Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir, Turley Petit Syrah and Decoy, by Duckhorn, Bordeaux Blend
