Hob Knob Inn

OVERVIEW of the Hob Knob Inn

Affectionately named after her grandparent’s sprawling country home in Ohio….The Hob Knob, owner Margaret H. White has created a charming and comfortable eco boutique hotel which may be the only truly “green” property on the island.

Everyone has their preference for the type of accommodations they prefer; B&B’s, inns or full service hotels. The Hob Knob has managed to combine the best of all three…the intimacy of a B&B, the charm of a country inn and the amenities of a top notch hotel. Elegant and cozy public rooms, beautiful gardens, a wonderful wrap-around porch, a scrumptious organic breakfast and a terrific staff all come together for an ideal weekend retreat. Located on the northern end of Main Street, it is a a short walk to shopping, restaurants and beaches.

THE ROOMS at the Hob Knob Inn

The hotel has 17 guest rooms, 15 with king beds. Standard rooms are a good size at @ 300 square feet. The deluxe rooms are larger and have more amenities like skylights and one has a small kitchenette. I particularly liked my deluxe room, #14. It had a skylight in the both the bedroom and bathroom, a small dormer area with a reading chair, great antiques and a soothing color scheme. Rooms have luxury linens, down pillows and hand monogrammed comforters. Each room is individually and elegantly decorated in cheerful yet soft colors, beautiful antiques and hand painted furniture. You’ll find a flat screen TV, DVD’s, Bose radios, mini bars and fresh flowers. Bathrooms have plush terrycloth robes and towels and Aveda toiletries. I don’t know maybe it’s me but there’s something about washing your hair with rosemary mint shampoo in the morning. It feels so organic…..

DINING at the Hob Knob Inn

A delicious full organic breakfast is served each morning, with lots of choices like perfectly cooked poached eggs with grilled tomato and Canadian bacon on an English muffin. Don’t miss the scones….they’re legendary. Tea and fresh lemonade are served with homemade scones and local berry preserves in the afternoon. Sit on the porch or in the garden and while away the afternoon. After dinner help yourself to a vintage port in the library.

On the lower level the Inn offers a compact Fitness Center, a Business Center and a Spa. Steam and sauna are offered in the spa and massage and other treatments are available by appointment.
