Four Seasons, San Francisco CA

OVERVIEW
Just steps away from the popular Union Square shopping area of downtown San Francisco lies the inimitable Four Seasons Hotel. It may not look like much from the outside, as it is simply another building hiding indiscriminately among the skyscrapers in the financial district, but step inside and let the gilded treatment that the Four Seasons is famous for envelop you from head to toe.

The modern and contemporary design of the hotel is stunning by itself but is enhanced by an outstanding contemporary art collection with more than 90 paintings, sculptures, prints and works in glass by more than 40 California-based artists. Guests can procure an I-pod guided tour of the artwork.

THE ROOMS
There are 277 guestrooms and suites starting at a very generous 460 square feet. All feature floor to ceiling windows with varying city views. My room boasted a plush window seat, with a view of the Moscone Center and the bay beyond. Each room is decorated in decorated in shades of grey, blue and white. The functional yet beautiful office furniture adorning each room was designed by renowned architect Herman Miller. If you are a connoisseur of hotels bathrooms, then you won’t be disappointed here. A large bathtub, a separate glass enclosed shower, a large marble vanity area and L’Occitane toiletries make this a delightful experience.

DINING
Perched on the fifth floor and looking out over the vibrant area of San Francisco’s Market Street is MKT Restaurant  – Bar offering a “California-centric” menu of sustainable seafood, local meats and seasonal produce

THE SERVICE
Four Seasons hotels are renowned for their service and this one is no exception. The immensely accommodating staff is ready and waiting to cater to your every whim. They seem to anticipate all your needs. But little things like welcome milk and cookies and child-size bathrobes for kids, fresh fruit in the rooms make this a special place.
