Four Seasons Encantado Resort, Santa Fe NM

OVERVIEW
Just outside the Sante Fe city limits, Encantado is tucked away against the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The adobe style design is integrated perfectly to the stunning desert terrain and is positioned to take maximum advantage of the magnificent sunrises and sunsets. Characteristic of Four Seasons resorts, there is an understated sense of luxury here and warm and gracious service.

The main lodge is home to reception, the dining room and bar, meeting space and large courtyard with outdoor fireplaces and wonderful views. The spa and yoga studio are located next to the pool, all steps from the main building.

THE ROOMS
65 casitas are spread throughout the 57 acres and range in size from 630 square feet to over 1000. This is nearly twice the size of an average hotel room. Decorated in the warm colors of the dessert with splashes of brown, gold and rust, the sense is of a kind of rustic elegance. Original local artwork adds color and wood burning Kiva fireplaces add warmth. Beds are draped in luxury Italian linens and down comforters. Marble bathrooms are huge with radiant heated floors, soaking tubs and separate showers. All have private outdoor terraces. Custom blended bath products reflect the scents of the desert with aromas of sage, lavender and rosemary.

DINING
Terra, the restaurant, serves a simple, but regionally influenced menu with much of the organic product sourced locally. All meals are served here and each meal brings exciting surprises like blue corn pancakes and green chile sausage at breakfast; Rubin’s Tortilla soup and a lamb quesadilla with jalapeno jelly at lunch and cumin roasted pheasant with mountain morels, fiddlehead ferns, new potatoes and kumquat relish at dinner.

Good wine list with interesting choices and very reasonable prices.

THE SERVICE
Effortless, best describes the service level at the resort. Staff members are attentive and friendly, but never intrude. I was greeted immediately upon arrival, bags taken, car parked. A staff member was not available to take me to my room (and they were very upset about it), but rather than make me wait, they loaded up a golf cart and let me take it to my room. Before I could reach the room someone arrived to take my luggage, light the fire in the fireplace and acquaint me with my room. A few minutes after arrival, a staffer arrived with fresh ice.

THE RATES: From $1063 Peak Season Weekend
