Meet Jim Flynn
"I have always enjoyed traveling. The prospect of new places to see and explore has always been exciting to me. Some of the most fun I ever had in my career was planning unusual sales incentive trips.
For 20 years I was on a plane every week for business and believed that I needed a weekend away every few months to recharge the batteries. Planning for those weekends, however, could be frustrating. It was virtually impossible to get a real "feel" for a destination from the guidebooks. Even today with the Internet available to us, there is either too much information (they list every hotel and inn available) or the information isn’t too reliable. Often, it’s written by the property or restaurant itself and who’s going to write a negative review on their own business?
Like many people I have had my share of trips where things didn’t turn out the way they were portrayed. There is nothing more deflating than to arrive at that room that looked so good on the Internet, only to realize it had seen better days.
I have created BestWeekends, so that when you go away for a weekend you can get the most out of your trip. You don’t need to know the 20 places available to stay, you need to know the best three or four. Same with restaurants. Same with "Things To Do". You couldn’t get to ten museums in a weekend, but if you like museums, you should know the one or two not to be missed. You can’t play five golf courses in a couple of days, but if golf is your passion, you’ll need to know the best local course. And so on…...
But that’s not all. When you are away, there are other things it would be nice to know to know that would enhance your weekend, things you normally wouldn’t find out until you’ve been there. Like the best place to watch the sunset; where to go after dinner; the best breakfast spots; the best burger; the best place to get food for a picnic, and more.
What sets BestWeekends apart from other travel websites is that we don’t just regurgitate what others have said. We start by reading the available information and compile our "target" lists, those places we want to visit when we are in the destination. When we get to the location, we visit all our "targets" and then talk to the locals for new ones. It is not unusual for us to be unimpressed with a place others have touted, or to find new places that haven’t shown up elsewhere. Some of our best finds have been "off the radar".
In short, we do all the work for you to insure that you have as near a perfect weekend as possible. You won’t find more comprehensive, usable information than our Destination Profiles. I am confident that if you follow our recommendations, your weekend will be a memorable one. To coin a phrase, "the price is $9.99, the weekend, priceless."
Enjoy!
